Meet 2023-24 ABE Türkiye Fellow Teachers
6 teachers who will receive the ABE Türkiye Teacher Fellowship, which is open for application for the first time this year, will have the opportunity to learn new things from their colleagues and experts. These teachers will produce projects that can improve the ABE Program with the leadership and encouragement of the ABE Program Office.
The projects that teachers will work on are planned to support the development of students in the field of biotechnology. For this purpose, teachers will meet regularly to exchange ideas at online meetings. Additionally, at the end of the academic year, they will present their projects with ABE site members of other countries at the online meeting, and share with other ABE teachers in the ABE Türkiye Teacher Meeting.

Süleyman Atilla |
I was born in İzmir in 1993. During the education I received at the Department of Chemistry Education at Middle East Technical University, I am an innovative and open-minded teacher who has improved himself in terms of research, self-motivation, entrepreneurship and acquiring different skills. My deep love for chemistry and biotechnology is combined with the energy and passion I bring to my teaching. Attracting my students to the fascinating world of science and making them love discovery is not only a duty but also a passion for me. In my lessons, I aim to go beyond being a teacher who merely conveys information, and I encourage my students to think, question and discover their own selves. |

I was born in Eskişehir in 1978. I was graduated from the Hacettepe University, Biology Department and Anadolu University, Sociology Department. I am studying my master's degree in the Education of Gifted Children at Düzce University. I have worked as a classroom teacher, a science teacher and a biology teacher since 1999. I love learning, researching, practicing and sharing my experiences. I am currently working at the Yenimahalle Science and Art Center. I am one of the first participating teachers of the ABE Türkiye Program. |

Nesibe Sevindik Kuyucu |
I was born in Karaman in 1990. I completed my primary, secondary and high school education in Karaman. After completing my undergraduate education at the Celal Bayar University, Faculty of Education, Department of Science Education, I completed my master's degree by studying Argumentation-Based Science Education at the Aksaray University. This is my 10th year of teaching career at public schools. Additionally, I work as a professional educational coach. I develop projects by participating in many national and international student and teacher projects. I have been practicing as an ABE teacher since 2022. |

Meltem Küçükarslan |
I was born in Antalya in 1972. I have an undergraduate degree in Biology Education from the Gazi University, Department of Science Education. I completed my master's degree in 1996 at Gazi University, Institute of Science and Technology in the field of Genetics. I have been working as a Biology teacher for 28 years. I am currently working at Ankara Keçiören Science and Art Center. I worked as a project director in The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) 4006 projects and as an expert in TÜBİTAK 4004 projects. I carry out projects with students, and participate in seminars, conferences and studies in my field. I love learning and teaching. I have been conducting implementations as an ABE teacher since 2020. |

I was born in Antalya in 1979. I was graduated from the Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Chemistry Education in 2001. I am a Chemistry Teacher at Havva Sedat Avcıoğlu Science High School in Kumluca district of Antalya. I work with my students in national projects and competitions. I have been conducting implementations as an ABE teacher at my school since the 2022-2023 academic year. |

Veysel Özdemir |
I was born in Konya in 1983. I was graduated from the Gazi University, Science Education Department in 2007. In 2019, I completed my master's degree in the Gazi Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Educational Management and Supervision. I have been a science teacher for 16 years and I currently work at Şehit Serhat Öztürk Middle School in Ankara. I have done and still continue to review textbooks and write supplementary books and questions. Since 2022, I have played an active role in the ABE Program, and continued to conduct classroom implementations. With the ABE Program's motto of Scientific Discovery in the Classroom and inquiry based practices, I believe I will contribute to the development of my students by triggering their analytical and critical thinking. This belief motivates me to provide such an opportunity to my students in the most effective way. |
