Mark your calendar! The ABE/SCBC kit/consumable reservation request system for Spring 2024 will open on Monday, Oct. 30 and close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.

Please plan out your kit and consumable needs for the spring now so that you are ready to submit your request(s) when the reservation system opens. Note that if you have already made a reservation for spring, there is no need to resubmit your request. You will only complete the process below for new requests.

After the October reservation period, your next opportunity to request a reservation will be the week of Jan 23 (at which point you can make a reservation for March 4 to the end of Spring semester).

We will send a reminder email the week before the reservation system opens.


ABE-San Diego Scheduling for 2023-2024

We will follow the schedule below for kit/consumable pick-up and return. You will notice that this is a bit different than last year. We are consolidating all pick-ups and drop-offs to Tuesdays (generally). You will also be able to keep each kit for a longer period of time this year to ensure that you have enough time to complete all of the labs. You can check out the same kit a maximum of two times per term. Everyone’s first kit request will get priority to maximize the number of teachers/students that can access the resources.


To make your reservation, please:


  1. View the yearly pick-up/drop-off dates/times on the table below or on the calendar here. If you request “consumables only” you may pick up your reagents on either a pick-up or drop-off day. You must be available to come to Miramar on the designated day/at the designated times below.

*Reservation requests for block 1 MUST be submitted by 8/17 at 5 pm to give us time to prepare the kit/consumables for you.


  1. Consult the Miramar Reservations Calendar here to view availability of kits or equipment. An empty box on the spreadsheet indicates the kit/equipment is available. Your last name will appear in the spreadsheet once you have a confirmed reservation, indicating the kit/equipment is not available for anyone else during that block. There is no limit on the number of consumables-only reservations we can accommodate in any given block.
  1. Complete the Order Request Form here.
  1. If you are unsure of what numbers to provide to us, just enter your anticipated numbers for students, groups, and classes. If you need to modify your actual numbers, contact us no later than two weeks prior to pick-up, but please note if you attempt to add numbers we may not be able to accommodate.
  1. Respond to the follow-up email(s) you receive from our team to address any clarifications, schedule your pick-up/drop-off times at Miramar, and sign the ABE-SD Teacher Agreement form. Your reservation is not confirmed until all of our questions are answered, we send you a confirmation email, and your name appears in the appropriate spot on the Miramar Reservations Calendar here. Please note that your confirmed pick-up/drop-off time has been reserved for you personally. Plan to be at the door to the lab at your pick-up/drop off time. Early/late shows may result in forfeiture of the reservation, with materials no longer available for pick-up.
