ABE Ireland provides all equipment and reagents needed to carry out the ABE labs completely free of charge.

Teachers will borrow a "kit" which contains all the necessary equipment and reagents for two to three weeks, to do the practical sessions with their students in their class. This kit (see images below) is composed of 4 boxes of approximately 75 litres and contains micropipettes, gel electrophoresis tanks, centrifuge, agarose gels, restriction enzymes, DNA ligase, and all other necessary reagents and products. There is also a cool box included in the kit to keep reagents cold.

All teacher material used during the teacher training workshops including PowerPoint presentations, teacher manuals, template schedules, and set up videos are available on the free education platform LabXchange. After attending a training workshop, teachers are emailed instructions on how to gain access to our resources on this platform.
